Website Hosting

There are a number of cost-effective and reliable Web Hosting companies in the UK and we are happy to offer impartial guidance at no charge.

Our preferred Hosting company is 1&1, because we use their services extensively ourselves and we have found them to be reliable and good value-for-money. Alternatively, you might want to think about:
fasthosts,
Netcetera or UK2.

Whatever you do, make sure you shop around for the right deal.

Virtual Hosting Package

For small businesses who are just starting out in the internet space, you might want to think about having your website hosted by us. The costs are significantly lower than you will pay elsewhere and it is a highly cost-effective starter solution.

How does virtual hosting work?

You will be assigned a discrete within our Website and your web pages will be designed and maintained by us. Due to security limitations, it will not be possible to provide you with access to make the changes yourself. As a general rule, after the initial Web site construction, we will make agreed changes to your Website within 48 hours, but this can be done more quickly if the need arises. If you need to make changes yourself, you will need to organise a web hosting package of your own. We can offer you assistance setting this up if you need help.

Most people will want to take out a contract with a Hosting company to look after their website. As a general rule, these contracts are for a minimum of 12 months and the costs will range from £75 and upwards. For most small businesses it should not be necessary to spend more than £120 p.a. including VAT. As a lower-cost alternative, you might want to think about asking us to host the your website at a substantially lower cost. This can operate in two ways:

1) You could have a Sub Domain within our website, such as www.taxi.webaffinity.net This would mean that you wouldn't even need to register and pay for your own website address, but it is only really suitable for one-man-band businesses.

2) For most people, we would recommend that you arrange to register a website address and we could arrange to have this directed to a discreet area within our website. An example of this in operation can be found at www.sbernicchia.com and look at how it 'resolves' to a Web Affinity domain.
